debuting at IMM cologne 2018, the woven frames of the B&B italia bay collection creates air pockets that envelop, shelter and comfort users.
monolithic in shape yet visually light in actual form, british design duo doshi levien creates a brand new outdoor seating collection for B&B italia. debuting at IMM cologne 2018, the sculptural seats are composed of a sofa in two sizes, an armchair and a high-backed armchair. all these editions are characterized by their enveloping volumes, which are made from a weaving of double polypropylene fiber.

doshi levien‘s design of interlaced fiber not only defines their wrapping form, but also its ‘air pockets’. this means the outdoor furniture offers transparency, lightness and actual shelter, even when considering its lack of material. the frame can also accommodate padded solid seats and soft cushions for added comfort. with this, the color combinations of the B&B italia ‘bay’ are refined with tortora and anthracite for the weave, paired with elegant black tones and patterned fabrics for the seat and cushions.
the ‘bay’ collection makes its global debut at IMM cologne 2018, where B&B italia launch its first new products of 2018 dedicated to outdoor living. the designs aim to reflect the technological advancement, ergonomic and formal quality typical of the brand’s indoor furniture.
