childhood is an evolutionary period, that unfortunately, is riddled with waste. think briefly about the lifespan of goods during younger years, everything from clothes, to furniture, and especially bikes, is only necessary for periods as brief as a few months. if money, and our planet, were of no issue, then that model would be fine. but of course, that’s not the case. in response, dutch designers spencer rotting and sander letema created ‘infento’.

building an ‘infento’ ride

the concept uses multi-functional, adjustable parts that allow parents and children to create a large range of wheel and snow based bikes and rides. the foundation of ‘infento’ lies within its parts. high-quality aluminum of various lengths, paired with modular connectors and components, make each ride structurally secure (any configuration can easily hold the weight of two children) and extremely long lasting. other materials, including stainless steel bolts, axels, enforced plastics, and rubber are utilized as well, and each has been tested for child friendliness.

building together with kids

before ‘infento’, there was nothing. lots of thought, tinkering and testing later, spencer and sander had developed something both beautiful, and simple enough for a child to construct. the ‘infento’ kit provides all necessary materials and instructions to build from the ground up, and as a bonus, can be entirely constructed with a single hex (allen) key. ‘infento’ was launched on kickstarter several weeks ago, and passed its $US50,000 goal within days. it has since surpassed $US150,000, with more than two weeks until the campaign ends. construction kits are expected for delivery in january of next year.

  • Really Cool guys.
I wish that was available when I was a kid

  • Finally! …someone understands that having kids allows you to be a kid again. As a geezer I look stupid on a skateboard, but if my dog is pulling me or I am with my grandson, it’s OK.

Cool guys… you only need to lower the ‘tech’ a bit so some middle-class can afford your product. Good luck.
