‘dynamo’ by ben vessey is available in two different packs: ‘apple pack’ and ‘faces pack’, with each one containing three sets of dynamic wallpapers. not only does this series create a delightful interaction, but it also improves visual communication of the charging cycle, allowing iPhone enthusiasts to take their home screen personalization to the next level.

describing how he got the idea for the project, the designer shares that reading about the functionality that the ‘shortcuts’ app enables in terms of automations and changing wallpapers based on battery life, got his ‘creative juices flowing’. ‘I started dreaming up concepts for wallpaper sets that could help illustrate the charging cycle, adding both aesthetic appeal and functional benefit — as a designer that’s always the ultimate goal,’ vessey adds.

the creative process started by sketching out concepts, and noting down ideas that could help communicate the iPhone charging cycle. ‘many of these ideas didn’t make it past this stage,’ shares the creator. ‘it took a little patience, and lots of experimentation, but eventually I worked out how to do exactly what I had intended,’ he continues.

vessey reveals that he has personally used all of the wallpapers, and liked each one for different reasons. however, if he had to choose one, it would be the ‘face’ wallpaper of the apple pack. ‘it’s beautifully simple, and the electrocuted face makes me smile every time I put my phone on charge,’ the designer explains.
