janja maidl: umbrella drying rack

‘umbrella drying rack’

whether collapsed or expanded, the ‘umbrella drying rack’ can be put in small corners or tucked away with your clothes. created by janja maidl, the design features rotating arms which allows for wet laundry to be hung up easily. its ability to collapse provides convenience to users with limited living space.

the construction of the ‘umbrella drying rack’ resembles that of a parasol. key to the folding mechanism of this rack system are the joints made from metal wire and a pin which can be removed to collapse the arms. upto 4.5kg of laundry can be placed on top of this drying unit.

janja maidl’s ‘umbrella drying rack’ was one of six graduating projects from Udk berlin showcased during DMY international design festival 2010.
