acquired from the collection of furniture brand zeritalia, cassina has re-proposed the classic design of the ‘1=2 table’ by french architect jean nouvel. the range of extendable tables incorporates an automatic leveling system, which has been further developed by cassina to strengthen its original design and structural integrity. presented during IMM cologne 2014 against a vibrant neon wall, the coffee tables highlight the versatile characteristics required for adapting to today’s modern home and office environments.

‘I have always loved the idea of something that can turn into something else; the 1=2 table was created from a simple idea: you have two small stacking tables,’ explains nouvel. ‘if you change the height of the feet, when you lift one of the tables up in order to flank it to the other, the result is a big table! this is the central idea: doing several things starting from only one; perceiving different dimensions and offering different uses.’ the re-issue is built with stainless steel legs, fixed to the 10 millimeter thick tempered glass with UV-bonded stainless steel plates.
