jeroen wesselink: radiator chair

dutch designer jeroen wesselink was definitely cold when he came up with the idea for his radiator chair, made from a reconfigured household radiator. the design itself is a cantilevered chair that takes design cues from gerrit rietveld’s zig zag chair. however instead of the more traditional wood, wesselink created his chair from an old radiator which he precisely cut and welded into form. after sanding, finishing and a fresh coat of paint, the chair is fully functional for sitting as well as heating. the water tight radiator can still be installed in a home, making for a very cozy seat.

  • Truly a thrill to see fresh form and function applied to an otherwise drab device. I suppose it can warm up a few towels as well as your butt! Jeroen is brilliant!
