originally invented by alexandre f. golefoy in the late 19th century, the hair dryer has always required two core  features to offer a successful result: force and convenience. but is this still enough for today’s consumerist society? hence, product designer jiyoun kim gives an interesting twist to this ordinary device by shaping it into an unusual geometry: the square.

the squared dryer by jiyoun kim, without obliterating its functionalities and rationalities, is developed with another crucial feature: a spatially effective way to be stored when unused. the device can be kept in a visually organized square shape with its foldable knob and electric cord neatly kept inside a translucent case. even more, combining the case with three different types of gradient colors brings about a sculptural flair to the item.
