‘the hiatus chair’ by jo hass korneliussen

‘the hitatus chair’ created by designer jo hass korneliuseen was on display duringthe stockholm furniture fair as part of the ‘under construction’ exhibition by oslo national academy of the arts.

the hiatus chair is designed for cloakrooms, dressing rooms and corridors, where people do not need to sit for long periods of time. yhe design idiom emerges from the chair’s gaps or interspaces that change shape and form, depending on the angle from which you look at them. ‘there are more gaps than chair’. the appearance of the hiatus chair is based on a single principle arising from guidelines on how to use plywood. the distinctive character of the chair is created by cutting all the parts from one and the same piece of plywood, thereby producing a number of correlations.
