london-based photographer john rankin is the man behind the lens when it comes to some of the most powerful contemporary images. his work stretches from ad campaigns to art exhibitions, his models include celebrities and children in africa. although his subjects and audience vary in demographic, there is a constant focus that defines a lot of his photographs — the eyes. rankin’s exploration of what it means to be beautiful is reinterpreted from its traditional sense, many times through creating a connection between the viewer and the model through their intense stares.

last may, rankin applied his focus on eyes to a collaboration with swatch to create eight timepieces for the ‘swatch x art’ collection.  his photographs of irises have been put on the face of the gent originals wrist watches. 777 limited edition packages were available in a five-piece set.
