an ‘imaginary museum #1’ by designer jon stam is a hacked view-master with micro LCD screens that aims to capture the information from our networked culture in an exhibition format. the project aims to viewing experience natural to hardcopy goods in a digital networked format. the project consists of the hacked view-master that contains micro LCD screens and curated digital collections that appear on the screens when the view-master disk is inserted. the whole system provides a new medium to experience digital artifacts in a well-established format.

 

jon stam is a 2013 recipient of the ‘W hotels designers of the future award’, which grants three international designers with a special commission. this year, for the first, each of the winning creatives is being paired with a new or renovating W hotel to create a site-specific project. the theme for this year’s projects is ‘making connections’ in which the resulting works are meant to facility an exchange with local communities, finding impetus in the design concept of their assigned hotel, its destination, as well as the craft and materials of the surrounding areato inform their work that is set to be presented at design miami/ basel from june 11-16, 2013.
