julian mayor‘s design practice is focused on transforming what is rendered digitally by computer, into a physical object. employing industrial craft making processes, the british creative uses industrial craft making techniques, most notably metal welding and wood working, to realize his sculptural pieces. on the occasion of the 2014 london design festival, mayor has conceived a site-specific installation for START menswear store in city’s shoreditch area. two large angularly composed panels are suspended in the retail shop’s front window display, finished in a palette of pastel colors which evoke the sense of shimmering precious jewels in a bold, graphic way.
