japanese studio junpei tamaki design has created the ‘thaw sofa’ in reference to images of fluffy snow. the curved silhouette is accompanied by a round wooden detail that frames the whole piece. made out of white oak and fabric, the volume forms a soft, sinking place to sit. a contrast is created between the base of the chair and the thin strip of wood, as it becomes a continuous line to serve the seat, arm and backrest in one.

the ‘thaw sofa’ is on display during milan design week, 2014 at salone internazionale del mobile.
