‘off white’
‘off white’ is the latest work from UK-based designer karen ryan. the project experiments with notions of perfection and the accidental, through the use of objects left over in her studio.
currently in its first stages, prototype no. 1 consists of a discarded chair, scrap white photographic backdrop paper, flour and water. using a technique similar to that of papier-maché, ryan uses the paper to sculpt around the existing chair, layering and shaping new forms and volumes.
