new york-based designer karim rashid has created ‘amedeo’ for italian company ceramica cielo. the ceramic washbasin consists of a round or oval bowl floating above a tapered pedestal. instead of a central drain, the soiled water rolls down along the interior edges, keeping the continuous aesthetic while minimizing the maintenance. due to its form, the sink can be placed by a wall or in the centre of a room, allowing access from either side. for a less common appearance, ‘amedeo’ is also available in stone and anthracite surfaces.
