karim rashid: cross for freedom of creation

karim rashid has conceived ‘cross’ in collaboration with freedom of creation, a dutch company known for their advanced 3D printing technologies. the collection, which to date includes a suspension and table lamp, was presented at imm cologne 2011.

the suggestive cross-shaped lamp is composed from an agglomeration of small figures that allude to the designers most famous and iconic forms. each shape – unique in mass and scale – intersects with the others to produce an arbitrary surface that filters light while creating and defining shadow.
