japanese design firm kenma was in charge of business development and store design of green tea café, mirume; japan’s top award-winning tea producer located in nagoya, japan‘s third-largest city. kenma designed the flagship service, ‘asa bottle’ (meaning morning green tea), a take away of authentic water drip green tea with tea leaves in a bottle that reduces plastic cups and bottles waste.

this product designed by kenma, is only sold during morning commuting hours, allowing users to easily drink freshwater drip green tea by simply pouring water into a glass after purchasing it at the counter outside the store. since it contains tea leaves, customers can simply add water at the office or other places to drink authentic green tea as if it were brewed in a kyusu (japanese teapot), up to three times in total.

the designers used a 300 ml reusable glass bottle, a process that is environmentally friendly and does not generate garbage with the bottles being returned to the basket at the store counter after work. tea leaves, which are usually thrown away only once at a cafe, can be consumed up to three times repeatedly by adding water. the bottle is very lightweight and can be easy to hold and keep in any bag. it is also used for baby bottles and therefore is strong against impact.
