architecturally sculpted and connected to the natural elements, the complete kettal ‘cala’ collection by doshi levien debuts at IMM cologne 2018. first gracing milan design week 2016, the armchair, with its high back and transparent surfaces, was inspired by the iconic emanuelle and in turn, established a new design language for the spanish furniture brand. as such, these characteristics, which combines large natural curves with a latticed rope weave, paved the way for the london-based design studio to create additional pieces for the range, including a dining chair, a series of tables, low foot stools, and two sofas.

at the heart of doshi levien‘s design, the kettal ‘cala’ collection is characterized by an open weave of rope that provides a latticed window for visual privacy. furthermore, this form, not only found in the chairs and sofas but also the tables and stools, showcase a majestic spatial presence. with a wide selection of metal coatings, rope colors and cushion fabrics, the pieces can be tailored to suit many different projects, either outdoor or indoor. the tables, constructed with a monolithic presence in contrast to the lightness of the chairs, can be fitted with a variety of tops, including wood and marble.
