on may 8th, 2010, designboom editor-in-chief birgit lohmann will be speaking as part of the creative magazines symposium in kuala lumpur, during the malaysian city’s design week KLDW. KLDW 2010 will be taking place in 10 locations all over the city. from the 1st to 16th May, 2010, kuala lumpur will experience a colorful 16-day festival of mixed design disciplines from architecture & interior design, multimedia & animation, art & graphics, creative crafts, music & soundscape, and character & product design.

creative magazines symposium this constant pursuit of creative integrity and inspirational ideas has led to the influx of independent creative-based magazines and media. functioning as a source of information, these magazines seek to mainline the gist of the worlds’ most vibrant, exciting designs. the creative magazines and media symposium serves as a platform for those who are currently involved or wishes to be involved into the world of creative magazines and media. 5 renowned editors with experiences in the creative media will be invited as speakers to talk about their philosophies on creative, how to develop and produce the most updated compilation of creative information in today’s environment, how they source out good designs from all over the globe, and showcase them on their respective publications. the operational side of things will also be discussed, with technical how-to’s and the business perspective in publishing a creative magazine. speaking at this conference will be: creative review (UK), designboom (italy), +81 (japan) and gestalten creative director, sven ehmann (berlin).

about kuala lumpur design week kuala lumpur design week (KLDW) is the first and the largest annual event of malaysia’s creative industry. the festival is a vital tool for the creative development of the nation, in enlightening the community about the significance of the creative economy and encouraging the education of design in various aspects of cultural development within the region.
