the ‘pool chair’ by masayoshi oya and kazuaki hibino of yoin design, incorporates gentle lines to reflect a seat that is comfortable to grab. presented at the 2015 stockholm furniture fair, within the greenhouse section — where up-and-coming designers and schools display their prototypes to potential partners, producers and customers — the furniture object takes its formal influences from a swimming pool ladder, elaborating on how they are smooth and pleasant to touch, yet provide a feeling of security. adding a clever graphical element to a living room environment, the chairs are available with a wooden seat pan for the low model, and a black fabric option for the taller version.
