as lake + wells studio puts it, jax lives in that familiar and yet unplaceable ‘future-past’ that is imagined over and over again — in and out of the pages of science fiction. indeed, the final design hints at an intergalactic and timeless dimension that brings light into a boundless darkness. this mezmerizing effect is possible thanks to jax’s star-shaped structure with a lighting system that resembles constellations — where each crystal creates its own ‘starburst’.

the lighting product is composed of three different elements, as a re-interpretation of traditional crystal chandeliers. its body is made from high-precision aluminum which is machined and satin anodized. lighting sources consist of high-powered LED lights and hand-polished crystals. finally, a subtle chamfer crosses both materials as a reminder of the archetypal cuts found in chandelier prisms. therefore, jax’s three-modular system allows it to become a never-ending, tailored network of sculptural ceiling and wall fixtures.
