‘VITURE ONE’ represents a new era of immersive entertainment

LAYER’s Benjamin Hubert has designed ‘VITURE One’, a smart eyewear system for the US tech start-up Viture. The super-slim, lifestyle-driven glasses are fitted with lenses displaying a 120-inch virtual screen, allowing users to stream media and games discreetly and anywhere — eliminating the need for bulkier physical devices. The result is a next-generation product offering full immersion entertainment that blurs the boundaries between fashion and tech; the virtual screen floats in the user’s line of vision and fits most lighting conditions.

The system is compatible with almost all major streaming services and gaming platforms – including GeForce, Now, Stadia, Xbox Cloud, YouTube, and Twitch – and can be synced so users can watch or play with friends.

Specs-wise, the virtual screen includes pixel-free HD at 60fps in 1080p and 55 PPD (pixels per degree) – almost triple the resolution in mass-market VR headsets. It also packs nearly 400 PPI (pixels per inch) on a retina display. Moreover, the ‘VITURE One’ by LAYER (see more here) is paired with a semi-flexible, collar-like neckband that contains the powerful CPU (central processing unit) and GPU (graphics processing unit) and features intuitive controls and battery. ‘The result is full immersion gaming, and media streaming like you’ve never experienced before!’ writes LAYER.

engineered for comfort and accessibility

‘VITURE One’ packs cutting-edge technology into ultra-slim, fashion-driven frames, allowing the eyewear to read as a fashion accessory rather than a tech device. For aesthetic discretion, the curved lines and wrapped edges of the frames conceal the OLED display, which powers the virtual screen. The frames also mask an ear-facing speaker module in the temple, offering exceptional sound quality.

In addition to style, the eyewear offers a high degree of comfort. Smart, heat-release engineering and a 78g lightweight frame enable users to enjoy hours of entertainment without overheating or aches. The ergonomic design features an interchangeable nose bridge that slides into a keyhole detail, allowing the frames to fit a wide range of facial structures comfortably. Shortsighted users can also adjust the display to their prescription for a crisp, clear image every time.

blurring  the boundaries between fashion and tech

While AR and smart glasses are typically bulkier than traditional eyewear, ‘VITURE One’ offers a new, super-slim vision for this typology that easily folds up for convenient storage without sacrificing performance. Moreover, it packs the necessary components into the slim frame as discreetly as possible, taking design cues from the fashion world rather than conventional signifiers of high-tech products.

This traditional silhouette is defined by its flowing contours and is differentiated by subtle technical flourishes, including the speaker grille in the temple and concealed dials at the top of the frame. Most components are cleverly integrated behind the crisp front silhouette and further disguised by the gentle curves. Connection points at the temple tips are similarly discreet. Finally, the accompanying neckband takes visual cues from the frame and features complementing material finishes; such an elegant pairing fits with any clothing and accessory.

The smart eyewear space is typically populated by over-designed, overly technical frames. In creating VITURE One, we wanted to deliver the antithesis of this trend. The result is a product that is more lifestyle led, akin to the traditional eyewear you would wear proudly as part of your fashion expression. The classic, minimal silhouette with exquisite detailing enables users to pair the eyewear with their own individual style and discreetly stream media or game anywhere without the need for bulky laptops or other displays,’ comments Benjaming Hubert.
