nestled in the foothills of the supramonte mountain range in the italian island of sardinia lies hotel su gologone, where artist, designer and entrepreneur giovanna palimodde has set up six artisan shops at the old stables of the hotel. called bottegue su gologone, this genuine treasure trove is full of objects that pay tribute to the craftsmanship and tradition of the territory.

on a recent trip to sardinia, designboom experienced hotel su gologone’s charm and le botteghe su gologone’s creative interpretation of a mysterious and fascinating land, capable of preserving its tradition intact.

together with local artisans, palimodde creates objects that preserve sardinia’s history. from fabrics to ceramics to handcrafted cushions and embroidered bed runners, her native land is also concretized in precious wool carpets with bright colors, where on monochrome and lively backgrounds, viewers can discover and celebrate the land’s ancient traditions.

at le bottegue su gologone, giovanna palimodde showcases the island’s millenary history through her contemporary sensibility. the objects she makes create a narrative that is intertwined with history, where ancestral signs and mediterranean inspirations are protagonists. present throughout the hotel, palimodde’s pieces not only elevate the experience, but give back to the island while leaving a mark on those who visit the premises.

le botteghe su gologone’s latest work proposes two new collections of decorated cushions: linea blue, featuring stylized schools of fish in a lapis lazuli sea; and linea trama, where white, typical of the sardinian handicraft tradition, is combined with hints of the north african style. the tables at the hotel greet dinners with a new line of plates called murano, characterized by the geometric patterns typical of the island. the collection has been created in a particular glass tempering that makes it as solid and shiny as ceramic. overall, the objects portray a deep love for tradition and the magic of sardinia.
