‘leano’ is a practical, portable, lightweight chair designed by slovenian designer nik lorbeg. handcrafted from beech wood and locally-sewn fabrics, the seat can be deployed virtually anywhere — just be a little careful on glass and tile. ‘leano’ is perfect for camping, festivals, hiking or any activity where a chair would be wanted. the product comes in three colors, weighs just under half a kilo, and measures 49 cm long. to get your own ‘leano’ support the ongoing kickstarter campaign here; or for the DIY’s out there, find out how to make your own here

  • Almost. Very clever, simple ..wonderful minimalist thinking. I made sling chairs and there is no-way anyone sits for any period of time with a hard stick pressing on any part of your body. Great idea ..but I see ‘evolving’ into a more complicated item. ..that I might make. Thanks Nik .. if I make something viable, I’ll make you an extra one. Cheers. Jimn

  • Hi Jim.
We’ve tested and used Leano for two years now and hardwood pressing against our bodies wasn’t an issue. Leano works by keeping the fabric stretched and therefore reducing the force of the stick against your back.
It’s meant to improve sitting on the ground not compete with other higher class deck chairs.
Sitting without having anything to lean on is just no fun for me. 🙂

If you come up with something interesting please let us know, we’d love to see that!

    Have a good one Jim,

  • Hello,

we tried to contact Nik Lorbeg (getleano), but unfortunately we were not successful, because there are problems with homepage/mail. We are a German DIY and design magazine called HANDMADE Kultur. In our next issue we would like to feature leano in our “new products” section.

Could you please send him this mail so that he could contact me.

    Thank you very much.

    Kind Regards,
