following the launch of jaguar‘s all-new 2020 land rover defender during the frankfurt motor show, LEGO has revealed an impressively detailed technic version made in partnership with the british automaker. not only does the 2,573-piece kit include authentic body panels and wheels, but it also features three differentials, fully independent suspension, and LEGO’s ‘most sophisticated gearbox yet.’

the LEGO technic vehicle pays close attention to both the exterior and interior details of the all-new defender. by folding the rear seat forward, a four-speed sequential gearbox is revealed with switchable low and high-range for maximum crawling capability. meanwhile, a detailed model of the inline-six engine resides under the hood. by twisting the rear-mounted tire builders can also take a look at the rear tailgate.
the LEGO defender’s suspension features coil-sprung independent suspension at each corner and fully functional steering can be controlled by the steering wheel in the cab, or via a control knob on the roof. the model is also finished with a working winch removable roof rack with storage box, original-design rims, pannier, ladder and traction mats.
the LEGO technic land rover defender set will be available globally from 1 october, 2019. in the US, the defender technic kit will cost $200, and will be available in olive green, grey, and black color schemes.
