capturing nostalgia: LEGO Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera
LEGO embarks on a nostalgic journey with its latest creation – a replica brick model of the iconic rainbow-striped Polaroid OneStep SX-70. Revealed on LEGO Ideas, the platform that transforms user-submitted concepts into potential sets, this fan-made project faithfully mirrors the vintage camera’s design, even capturing its distinctive clicking mechanism. Despite its authentic appearance and sound, it’s important to note that the LEGO rendition cannot capture images itself. Nevertheless, the building process still looks very enjoyable!

An Interactive Dive into LEGO’s Polaroid Camera Set
Serving as a nostalgic nod to photography history, the LEGO set (find more here) is comprised of 516 pieces accompanied by three instant ‘photos’. One of the photo-looking illustrations features a portrayal of Polaroid inventor Edwin H. Land. Designed for interaction, users can choose a Polaroid photo, load it into the camera, and simulate ejection by pressing the red shutter button.
In a playful campaign, LEGO humorously acknowledges the toy’s lack of actual photographic capabilities, emphasizing that the footage is not shot on a LEGO Polaroid camera.‘The new LEGO Ideas Polaroid Camera clicks… But doesn’t take photos!’ reminds LEGO in a recent Instagram post. ‘Play with everything and capture nothing with photographers’ favorite non-functioning camera!’
