'librottiglia' by reverse innovation are short stories to be enjoyed by the glass

reverse innovation has taken the classic combination of fine wine and great literature and used it to inspire their latest project: a collection of wines each paired with a hand selected literary short. entitled ‘librottiglia’, the project matches the characteristics of each wine to a narrative genre, creating a perfectly balanced oeno-literary experience based on the sensory impressions and scenarios imagined in the stories.

a partnership between reverse innovation and the matteo correggia winery in italy, the name ‘librottiglia’ comes from the clever combination of two italian words: libro (book) and bottiglia (bottle). the range is distinguished by a small and elegant book bound to the body of the bottle that both serves as both the label and an absorbing literary adventure. the colorful yet minimal illustrated vignettes act as a brief insight both into the nature of the novel, and the character of the wine. binding the book to the bottle is a piece of twine that when paired with the weighty, textured paper stock creates a tactile and multisensory reading experience.

the studio has collaborated with three authors in recruiting stories for the project: patrizia laquidara is the author of ‘la rana nella pancia’ (the frog in the belly), an intriguing fable which complements the uncommon personality of the red anthos; a dry brachetto with a surprisingly sweet bouquet. ‘ti amo. dimenticami’ (I love you. forget me) by regina nadaes marques is the story of a life changing love, and accompanies the nebbiolo roero. ‘l’omicidio’ (murder), by the journalist and satirist danilo zanelli, is a humour tinged mystery that blends with the fresh and light spirit of the white roero arneis.

‘today we read books on computers, tablets and mobile phones. why not on a bottle of wine?’ questions the creative team at reverse innovation. ‘after years of discussion about analogue vs. digital, we want to propose an alternative: oenological instead of digital’. each entry in the librottiglia range is served in a 375ml bottle: a perfect two glasses of unputdownable wine to match an unputdownable book.
