‘colour me red, colour me green’ by liliana ovalle are two abstract wooden constructs that are partly painted with color to create the illusion that they are archetypal tables.

the project was presented at london design festival 2011, as part of the exhibition ‘methods of imitation‘ at paper tiger.

liliana ovalle: colour me red, colour me green colour me red. solid oak, hand stained. 43 x 45 x 40 cms. ‘colour can change the nature of an object as soon as the brush touches it. an immediate transformation takes place: different elements are unified into one and a new space is combined within the borders of the coloured surface.’

‘the project explores the use of colour as means to bring a new significance to an object. a superficial layer draws a new shape within an assembly of wooden volumes and boards, adding a new perception of the whole. colour opens a space for ambiguity and interpretation.’ – liliana ovalle
