working with a traditional organ maker, dutch designer lisanne van zanten has completed this collection of ‘drankorgels’ made for the drink sterkwater. the device features a a unique porcelain lid and a lead organ pipe used for the production of sterkwater – a light alcoholic drink with a base substance of kefir – a living enzyme that feeds on sugar and fruit. the ‘drankorgel’ captures the making process through an inflatable balloon attached to its base. reacting to the gas from the kefir, air pressure is collected in the balloon, that when full opens a valve to play a clear musical tone, letting one know the drink is ready.
