looking to establish a new visual language is ‘more with less’, by lishuai dong. reminiscent of traditional aesthetics evident in japanese craft, the stool is at once natural, tactile and organic.

wood veneer is simply bent and layered with overlapping sheets of waste magazine paper. contrasting surfaces add depth and interest to the inner structure, highlighting the subtle complexities of the otherwise minimal object. ropes wrap around the exterior form, in a continuous and constant movement, binding the stool together to maintain its restrained shape. the arched object is strong enough to support a person, demonstrating the integral strength of the material and production process.
