crafted world by loewe at the shanghai exhibition centre

Fashion brand LOEWE launches its first major show at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre, titled Crafted World. This vibrant retrospective spotlights LOEWE’s rich Spanish heritage and commitment to the handmade through an interactive journey across time, space, material, and craft filled with art and culture. The fashion house’s creative director Jonathan Anderson curated the show, while architecture group OMA, the studio behind some of the most ground-breaking museums of the 21st century, led on the set design for Crafted World.

Jonathan Anderson and OMA create an interactive journey

Jonathan Anderson (see more here) curated the Crafted World retrospective around six thematic chapters that illustrate the brand’s idiosyncratic sense of play: Born from the Hand, Welcome to Spain, The Atelier, Fashion Without Limits, United in Craft, and Unexpected Dialogue. Each of these themes, spatially designed by the OMA team, showcases LOEWE’s (see more here) progressive approach to fashion and culture of craft through multi-sensory storytelling including touch, sound, and augmented reality.

Some highlights of the Crafted World exhibition include iconic LOEWE dresses from its previous Spring/Summer collection, maquettes by OMA, and a selection of handbags and chairs, each exemplifying the fashion house’s intricate dedication to woven, handcrafted, and handmade designs. The retrospective has opened to the public at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre on March 22, 2024 and is running until May 5, 2024.
