louis vuitton adds pieces by atelier biagetti and zanellato / bortotto to its objets nomades collection. joining a line-up of renowned designers including india mahdavi, patricia urquiola and tokujin yoshioka, like them, the italian duos have worked alongside an in-house artisan to produce their designs.

the collection sees designers interpret the idea of travel whilst considering their own personal style. the milanese atelier biagetti has created ‘anemona’, a dining table with a glass top and wavy base covered in soft leather. meanwhile, the italian duo zanellato / bortotto makes its debut with the ‘mandala’ screen, composed of three parts in a sophisticated weave.

the pieces were unveiled at the neoclassical palazzo serbelloni during milan design week 2019, in an exhibition that featured the entire collection as well as past editions re-proposed in new colors and materials. dimly lit rooms are illuminated by vibrant hues including the campana brothers’ ‘bomboca’ sofa-puzzle in fluorescent yellow and the ‘cocoon’ suspended chair covered with red faux fur.

as well as updating previous designs, the campana brothers have added a new piece called the bulbo armchair, a gigantic envelope in yellow fabric that creates the experience of being embraced by a tropical flower. the latest showcase also includes new pieces from raw edges who present ‘doll chairs’, a modular-style design which like traditional louis vuitton trunks, can be customized and hand painted with special designs.

last but not least, marcel wanders has designed four new objects: the diamond armchair, a cage-like design formed of arching wooden slats; venezia, a lamp inspired by traditional venetian lanterns; and the diamond vase made from mouth-blown murano glass suspended by leather straps.

objet nomades was created in 2012, inviting designers to imagine creative but functional furniture and objects. year after year the french fashion house has worked with new names, expanding the collection to a current total of 40 pieces.
