foscarini to debut aplomb large, a UFO-shaped concrete lamp

designed by italian studio lucidipeverethe latest suspension lamp for foscarini reinvigorates the company’s aplomb collection with a new defining shape in concrete. the wide, flattened top resembles the galactic silhouette of a UFO, and is fitted with a LED source that casts a wide beam of light onto the surface underneath.

foscarini aplomb large by lucidipevere is made by italian artisans through a craft-based technique of concrete processing. the challenge in producing the lamp lies in creating its signature slim form while achieving a thickness and texture of concrete that is not too harsh to the touch. the final result is achieved thanks to the painstaking care and expertise the artisans put into the raw material, which allows the creation of a perfectly balanced mixture to be poured into the mold.

when paired with a long cable, the UFO looking concrete lamp creates a dramatic effect to any setting — as if the object is landing on the ground. available in three colors — white, grey and brown — the lighting piece has versatile uses like being placed over a table, a kitchen island or a counter, at home or in commercial dwellings.
