in celebration of its extensive product line of bathroom furniture and sanitary ware, kartell by LAUFEN has opened its first retail space in the heart of milan’s brera district in via pontaccio, 10. the monobrand store is an expression of kartell by LAUFEN’s continued collaboration with italian designers ludovica and roberto palomba who have envisioned the scheme and concept layout of the showroom’s interior.

kartell by LAUFEN first made its debut two years ago (see more about the kartell by LAUFEN brand on designboom here) with a series of washbasins designed by ludovica and roberto palomba, exhibiting LAUFEN‘s revolutionary ceramic material; alongside bathroom furniture and accessories which express kartell’s expertise in plastic manufacturing. the result has been an interconnected system of bathtubs, sinks, lighting, sanitary ware, shelves, stools washbasins, and furniture elements such as cupboards, stools mirrors and tables and other bathroom fittings. since being revealed to the international market, the kartell by LAUFEN product family has made its way into more than 500 high-end stores in more than 40 countries worldwide.

the 200 square metre space in milan speaks of kartell by LAUFEN’s commitment to retail. from the street, the shop opens onto its interior through four vertical windows. the ground floor offers spacious layouts of bathroom settings, highlighting the combination of plastic and ceramic materials of the collection. the neutral palette is accented by the bold polycarbonate shelving in warm amber, orange and red tones.

the lower level offers a series of intimate zones, exhibiting the versatility and adaptability of kartell by LAUFEN products in diverse bathroom dimensions. as the designers of the entire kartell by LAUFEN collection, ludovica and roberto palomba have translated their vision for the original bathroom pieces, into a showroom which features the best that kartell by LAUFEN has to offer, in an unexpected thematic and chromatic mood.
