a 50m2 (528 sq. ft) retail store, ‘lunapark shop‘ features 36 brands, all of which focus on contemporary turkish design. located on the serdar-1 ekrem street in istanbul, the store has everything from cosmetics, stationary and furniture by companies such as mabel, kuru kahveci mehmet efendi, ece ajanda and alaeddin sardalya. passing just beyond the physical boundaries of the retail space, owners murat tamgiiç and bertan berk have assembled their design values in a project they call ‘turkish very much’. as a reflection of the initiative, all the featured designs have one thing in common: striving to find the balance between the modern race for novelty and the ties to traditional design values which are an important part of turkish culture.
