chinese studio MAD architects unexpectedly ventures into lighting design on the occasion of milan design week. for its collaboration with italian lighting company artemide, the studio has reinterpreted the vision of the legendary floating pingtan museum into a lighting object to bring emotions and energy found in nature in the interior.

as the pingtan art museum softly spreads its shape into the water, MAD and artemide’s lamp glows gradually providing warm and diffused light. recalling the experience of natural elements blending together, the abstract, organic design of the lamp is rescaled down to a transparent shell, the curves of which are designed to create an illuminated landscape.
