Mara unveils four new designer collaborations

Following a notable debut at the Salone del Mobile Milano, Mara unveiled four new collections in collaboration with international designers. This introduction was presented through a display installation by Ferruccio Laviani that complimented his, and the works of other renowned names like Michele de Lucchi (AMDL Circle), Christophe Pillet, and Marcello Ziliani. Never-seen-before steel-bending techniques, tables with sliding tops, modular bookcases, and Mara’s Icon-ic chair all come together to create ‘The Fusion of Living and Working Spaces’: a concept telling the renewed identity of the brand, which is increasingly balanced between the office and the residential dimensions.

mara’s debut at salone del mobile 2024

Founded in 1960, the Brescia-headquartered company unveiled a preview of four new collections of furnishings signed by internationally renowned designers, who accompany and complete some of its best-known proposals for the office and home-office. AMDL Circle, founded by Michele de Lucchi, Christophe Pillet, Ferruccio Laviani, Marcello Ziliani are the authors of a refined furniture series, narrating new ways of living for the office, the hospitality and the home, through products that combine functionality and aesthetic furnishing systems. Designed by Ferruccio Laviani, Mara’s stand at Salone del Mobile.Milano was a first, thanks to the wealthy proposals and exclusive collaborations launched.

from steel-bending never-seen-before to TABLES with sliding tops

The first new product is Typo, the unprecedented chair designed by Mara and AMDL CIRCLE, the studio founded by architect Michele De Lucchi. A product that reinterprets the traditional office chair on castors, and challenges the Italian company’s own design through the study of steel-profile bending techniques. Distinctive features are in fact those deliberate and refined creases of the frame, created by bending the steel tube with a square section along the diagonal. Notably, for the Salone del Mobile, Typo was also presented in a special Limited Edition, in collaboration with Alpi.

Meanwhile, from the collaboration with Christophe Pillet comes the Foil table, featuring minimal thicknesses and discreet perimeter frames that redefine the archetype of contemporary metal tables. This is true for both the fixed version and the model with a top integrated with mara’s mechanisms that allow the top to easily move and reveal the storage space underneath.

Complimenting Pillet’s table is the new bookcase system, Elle, designed by Ferruccio Laviani. The transversal, modular, modern architecture, stands as a tribute to lightness as its modular structure allows numerous compositions, accommodating spaces and needs. The stylistic feature, however, is contained in the ‘L’ element that gives shape to the shelves. By playing with the orientations, it is possible to create closed shapes, thus containers or dividers, or open shapes for visible shelves.

Not to forget the Icon seating family, which was launched last year with incredible success and is now being expanded with new versions. Designer Marcello Zilliani has created the new Icon: the seat now features a polypropylene shell, making it ideal for office, contract, and outdoor use due to its durable and resistant material.

And Icon High-back: the polypropylene armchair also takes on an evolved expression with a high, padded backrest and seat cushion. The look of Icon thus becomes more sophisticated and the feeling more welcoming thanks to the large, soft thicknesses. A clever solution for those who seek an everyday comfort, for a long time, whether in a home-office or in office contexts.

Completing this parterre of new proposals are further iconic Mara products, such as the Follow table collection characterized by Mara patented, mechanical height adjustment system. Then Follow Meeting Cone, with its soft design and sculptural conical base and Follow Break, functional and versatile thanks to its compact dimensions. Last but not least the Libro table collection, whose distinctive feature lies in its intuitive, safe and easy closing system that allows the table (even a large one) to be folded in just 40 cm now available also in monochromatic and monomaterial version with metal tables tops.
