marcel wanders: bon bon gold

‘bon bon gold’

dutch designer marcel wanders has designed ‘bon bon gold’. the seat is structurally made from rope which has been ‘crocheted’ to create the chair’s form. it is reinforced with resin and precious metal for structural purposes and added details. it is made in an edition of 20, plus 2 artist’s proofs.

‘bon bon gold’ is currently on show as part of ‘sotheby’s at sudeley castle‘, an outdoor exhibition held at sudeley castle, gloucestershire. it includes twenty-five unique or limited-edition works of contemporary design. through diverse and innovative reinterpretations of traditional functionality, the artists challenge popular perceptions of everyday objects. the show runs until august 1st, 2010.

  • stop the crap wanders

    tram says:
  • it is not crap, its more a nice styling. gorgeous place, waw!

    Noa says:
  • marcel plays very well with emotions. The crochet-technique evoques “good old times” when women spent their spare time with needle-work, the gold colour represents wealth $$$, and all wrapped up in a cosy egg-shape – secure & comfortable as in mother’s womb. And you thought this is a piece of furniture. šŸ˜‰

    Astrid says:
  • Me encanta. Me parece precioso, ingenioso y bello. K-rmen

    K-rmen says:
  • what chemicals did he use to make the ropes stabil? no word about it. design is future, future is impossible without thinking sustainable.
