marcel wanders for baccarat

‘united crystal woods’ is the new collection by dutch designermarcel wanders for french crystal company baccarat. the collection was presented at maison et objet 2010.

‘l’ivresse des bois’ (drunken woods) blown crystal decanter with red crystal stopper

wanders is a self-professed hedonist of great wines. working with an oenologist, he has designed ‘l’ivresse des bois’, a series of glasses consisting of a burgundy, bordeaux and champagne glasses. he has added some humor to the turned crystal stems by including his favorite seal – the famous clown with the nose that pops up in much of wanders’ collections. here it has become a motif for the stems and stopper in baccarat red or clear crystal. he has also designed two carafes, including a decanter.

  • Great crystal pieces. Marcel Wanders is a great designer getting close to my favorite designer.

    Perigaum says:
  • As soon as I saw the stopper — I knew who it was — and, I was excited to see more. As usual, Mr. Wanders does not disappoint. His beautiful work continues.

    Mushi says:
  • It’s awesome, a really creative way to make use of a traditional know how !
I love the glasses and the deer.

    Steeve / South Africa says:
  • sorry but it seems bloated and kitschy from my point of view.

    shamus says:
  • it’s nice…kitsch…so kitschy…but Wanders design catches very well the Baccarat style and need in this product.

great….at the end of the story…it’s well done..

    krea industrial design says:
  • Horrible! ……..What a contradiction looks cheap and disposable.

    mil says:
  • Very creative & varied, a mix of old & new ! the cuts on the vases are amazing.

    Frank S says:
  • what a load of narcissistic kitsch crap!

    c says:
  • it looks like he is trying to do somthing like jaime hayon
    and its does’nt work.
    hayon is the best.

    wm says:
  • dont need to see designers face or logo on any product.

    tece says:

and i think that it not even close to him… shame on you!
and i dont understand way he have to stuck his face al over the works… do i need his head in my living-room

    kobi

    kobi says:
  • too similar to Jamie Hayon that is true, for the innovation, there is non, the concept of a glass not having a vase was done some time ago by Moet Chandon, so that is two rip offs so far, and the antlers at the end with the candles and glasses as horns (WTF?)… I could not believe. When are you going to do something NEW Marcel?

    isc says:
  • The exhibition was stunning ! Thank you Marcel !

    Elisa says:
  • what a load of narcissistic kitsch crap!…..wanders needs to move on from his alter ego obsession….they look nice but its only coz its baccarat glass finished to the highest quality…very hard for glass to look bad generally!….Hayons designs would tame this shit any day!

    klast! says:
  • horror show

    Q says:
  • Still…Baccarat shows it’s much more creative than the other crystal/glass brands.

    Karine says:
  • products for a perfect personality cult,it ‘s not a design problem
