‘soffi’ is a collection of glass-blown vases by milan-based designer marco ferreri. on the island murano, famous for glass making in the venetian lagoon, glassblowers make a elongated bubble at the first light of dawn. these trial products, which are called soffi (‘puffs’) is to test the color, clarity and density of the glass in the crucible after being cast.  ninety nine in all, ferreri has taken these forms and gently tapped the bubble on a smooth surface to form a base and temper the piece.

‘soffi’ is part of the marco ferreri exhibition, on view at the triennale museum in milan, until 11 january, 2011.
