sysiphos is a project by german designer marco iannicelli based on the saga of the ancient king sysiphos, punished to endlessly roll a rock up a hill, only to have it fall down to the bottom every time. the design project is a modular kinetic sculpture that has a series of interchangeable modules. these modules each perform a different function and can be linked together in a wide array of combinations. energy is transferred mechanically between the modules and each one can be used independently with a hand crank. the pieces are all made from aluminium, stainless steel, brass and plywood. sysiphos will be on display during designweek in eindhoven later this month.
