the ‘coquille sofa’ by swedish designer markus johansson has marine characteristic connotations with its shell-like form. strong, curving lines make up the exterior structure to offer a warm and embracing place to sit. different layers of polyether foam are topped off with soft down to give both a firm support and a sense of softness.

‘I started off with the idea of a garment, which in itself gives form to a shape. I’ve been toying with inspiration found among mussels, shells, and i’ve been working with different levels of softness and hardness to render coquille as comfortable as possible.’ says the designer, markus johansson.
