swedish designer, markus johansson has created ‘nest’ a piece that looks to break the straight and rigid forms traditionally associated with the chair.

the asymmetrical object is made from a series of wood dowels that are bent and braided together to create the unraveling appearance. lacking conventional ninety degree angels, the chair becomes a cocoon-like environment that twists around the body of its user.

utilizing both modern and traditional technologies, each piece of wood is cut to a different length, drilled with a CNC milling machine and assembled and finished by hand.
