‘one side’ and ‘just my size’ by matalie crasset for danese

an extension of her ‘double size’ and ‘double side’ (which designboom covered here) for danese, matali crasset‘s ‘one side’ and ‘just my size’ is a table system and chair for the italian brand which employs fixed and convertible elements, rather than focusing on folding parts like its predecessors.

the ‘one side’ chair is a simplified, more economical, elementary version of ‘double side’, finished with a paint which still reveals the essence of the birch marine plywood from which it is made. with the elimination of the felt cover and movement-triggering components, the seating object is now characterized by its textural and visual attributes. in this new iteration, the smaller rear top does not support and lock the rotation of the seat’s back any longer, but becomes more of a load bearing surface–the seat tilt and back angle still remaining ergonomically correct. built from a composition of birch panel combinations, the cuts have been made in such a way that these parts nest into one another, avoiding unnecessary waste during production.

the ‘just my size’ table version, it no longer folds, but still resembles that of the original ‘double size’ line. the legs close-up ensuring stability while also maximizing the simplicity of its shape. the base is available in different sizes and can be used individually or combined with the foldable model to make the most use of space.

tables and fixed seating are added to the basic previous versions, creating an open system that supports interaction between man and space, constructed for domestic situations, as well as office and public scenarios. ‘one side’ + ‘just my size’ were presented during milan design week 2013.

the updated table and chair system now feature fixed elements rather than employing the folding ones of the previous ‘double size’ and ‘double side’ line
