french designer matali crasset has launched a textile home and beach collection for carrefour’s textile distributor brand: TEX. crasset’s work can be seen as a refusal of pure shape, in which she develops new typologies articulated by appropriation, flexibility and modularity. in the spring and summer collection she abstracts a ramification system into a tree-like fluid pattern.

TEX gave matali crasset free rein to create a series of objects presented as five highlights to bring out the seasons. sensitive to her project’s accessibility in terms of utility and price, the designer has placed these values in common accord with the TEX teams. the collection proposes a joyful approach to life, inviting all to share, meet, and express themselves through the generous tints of flat colors.
the first highlight analogous to spring concerns exclusively textile products related to the home universe. with a graphic aesthetic that portrays a ramification system, the collection sees a tree-like figure that symbolizes an expanding home, that like a vegetable patio, is open to breathing and liberating experiences from the outside world. this sign of hope develops graphically in the universe of the bedroom with bed linen and pillowcases, drapery and bathrooms, and cushions and plaid.
‘I decided to develop a pattern inspired by a vegetable pattern, because the vegetable is a common, shared language. it anchors itself deeply as a design inspiration. the vegetable is a metaphor of life.’ – matali crasset.
the second highlight — the beach collection — offers some ten pieces for the summer, adult and children’s bath towels and beach bags. starting from the same graphic module as for spring, this summer highlight offers a suspended moment for the holidays. the ramification becomes the backbone designed from the beach bag to the bathing towels, while a graphic system generated as a special universe daring contract and vibrations up to kinetic effects.
