one of the major exhibition during the recent vienna design week was an installation by czech designer maxim velcovsky. velcovsky worked with the viennese glassmaker lobmeyr to produce a special installation and a line of glassware. the installation featured a number of lobmeyr glassware stacked and arranged in the form of cityscapes like new york, moscow, london and medina. the glass was lit from behind created a corresponding silhouette on the translucent material in front. for the new series of glasses, velcovsky raided the lobmeyer stockroom, seeking glass shapes and chandelier parts. he combined these elements to produce an ornate set of glasses which use each completely unique.
