berlin-based designer michael hilgers, usually known for his space-saving furniture and objects, has developed VANJOY, a minimalist, simple and functional campervan. the tiny house-on-wheels is a multifunctonal ‘travel tool’ that can be changed into a van or mobile office in just a few steps.

‘by living in berlin for many years now i see myself and my environment increasingly confronted with typical urban topics: problems like the progressive limitation of living space, a sensory overload, the lack of parking areas and the growing desire for nature and freedom call for new solutions,’ mentions hilgers, ‘the VANJOY project perfectly combines my skills as a designer with my needs as a metropolitan: creating a mobile, multi-functional and affordable part-time living space on less than 4.5 square meters is a pretty exciting challenge.’ the interior of the campervan also serves as a mobile test laboratory for space-saving solutions, allowing the designer to focus on meaningful variability.
