Studio Mike & Maaike collaborated with Headspace to reimagine the physical experience of mindfulness in a furniture piece. As a result, the duo released a charming set of colorful pods that offer guided audio meditations with the push of three simple buttons: relax, refresh, and focus. Envisioned for public spaces (offices, university, lobbies, co-working hubs etc.), the project resulted in several prototypes to demonstrate and test the intended experience.

Guided Headspace (see more here) meditations are delivered through built-in directional audio that can only be heard inside the pod designed by Mike & Maaike (see more here). Felt upholstery provides a quiet and comfortable atmosphere, reinforced by the lack of a screen to remove associations with work or media. More importantly, the Headspace Meditation Pod’s upright seating creates a posture ideal for individuals trying to ease into a mindful state.
