moustache with Corian®: favoris collection

french furniture company moustache has collaborated with international manufacturing company DuPont® Corian® to develop the ‘favoris collection’ which was part of the ‘Corian® colour evolution’ exhibition on show during milan design week 2012. the presentation displayed a series of objects that expressed, revealed and emphasized Corian®’s new range of colors. the designs by inga sempé, ionna vautrin, sébastien cordoléani and benjamin graindorge go beyond the material’s planar characteristic and move towards more curved and round forms.

paris-based designer inga sempé developed a collection of items; a shelf, vase, candle holder, mirror and screw-on wooden shelves using the new palette. the pieces evolve by adding on autonomous elements to further increase their functionality. the objects are produced from Corian® colors grand brown, distinct tan and royal red.

paris-based designer ionna vautrin developed the ‘high baobab console’ and ‘baobab coffee table’ which beyond the minimalistic character of typical Corian® pieces of furniture and objects. built with revolving trays distributed at different levels depending on their function, the items patiently perform small services for their user. the biometrics highlight the constructive and plastic qualities which model an openness similar to the characteristics of nature. the ‘high baobab console’ with adjustable mirrors is finished in Corian® private gray with 2 revolving trays measuring H170 x L97 x D35 cm. the ‘baobab coffee table’ with two revolving trays, is finished in Corian® royal red measuring H70 x L80 x D26.5 cm.

french designer sébastien cordoléani has developed ‘storage column’ a linear functional unit that when stacked on top of each other becomes a towering architectural object. the exterior emblem creates a moving graphic along its tall shaft without interrupting the identity of the growing piece of furniture. the element is finished in Corian® colors light ash and royal red, measuring H250 x L90 x D90 cm.

french designer benjamin graindorge developed the ‘pyrénées table’ which is a landscape that proposes a juxtaposition of the geological-like Corian® layers which changes shades depending on the viewing position. the furniture piece appears to have a craftsman’s like form but is actually digitally produced. its three-dimensional patterns are carved from Corian® colours; royal red, private gray, distinction, grand brown, and measures H78 x W200 x D90 cm.

the ‘cave light’ is a table lamp that contains a textured terrain that develops around the object. through observation the interior radiance models the spaces in which we live, slowly revealing objects which surround us. the item is made of Corian® private gray and measures H80 x D30 cm.
