mr. tubes lighting design by anton de groof for masimo

‘mr. tubes’ is a design which embraces the industrial aesthetic of fluorescent lamps. made from black-coated steel, and intended for suspension from the ceiling, the luminary’s cylindrical bulbs are covered by a half-open shade that can be adjusted upwards and downwards depending on how the user wants to direct its luminosity. developed by anton de groof, founder of furniture and interiors company masimo, ‘mr. tubes’ offers a sleek lighitng option that is suitable for all spaces — from the home to the office to retail zones.

to prove its versatility, a series of ‘mr. tubes’ has been installed inside water and skincare brand marie-stella-maris‘s first physical shop in amsterdam, whose interior has also been developed by de groof. the small retail space is defined by a focal wall of interchangeable flex letters, that offer a bold and graphic touch to the store, with exposed product shelving; while an adjacent wall features a mosaic of mirrors which visually extends the intimate space.
