MSCHF goes super chunky with all-sole 2×4 boots

Remember the Astroboy big red boots? They now have a sibling with 2×4 Boots, MSCHF’s new lumberjack shoes with thick bottoms and uppers made entirely of gum rubber. In fact, MSCHF’s 2×4 Boots are all sole. The boot tread has been extended throughout the body of the footwear, wrapping its entirety with the gum rubber material. These lumberjack rubber boots might give the wearer nearly six inches of height growth because of the chunky soles. 

Four-pointed stars and leather heel cushioning

MSCHF’s 2×4 Boots are adorned by four-pointed stars, either shaped from the gum rubber sole material or as tread diamond eyelet hardware. These shuriken visuals, a type of Japanese weapon dubbed throwing stars, carpet the uppers, undersole, and eyelet of the rubber boots. At the heel of the boots, black faux leather with cushioning protects the wearer’s backside of the feet. This MSCHF spin on the rubber boots, coupled with the two-colored shoelaces, might bring the lumberjack shoes to mind, worn during construction and even in extreme cold weather. 

Spike Lee wears MSCHF’s 2×4 boots

For the campaign of MSCHF’s new 2×4 Boots, the art collective tapped Malcom X and American film director Spike Lee. He puts on the rubber boots and models MSCHF’s new kicks around New York City, followed by his daughter, Satchel Lee, who photographed the campaign. As of publishing the story, MSCHF’s 2×4 Boots are priced at 400 USD, and fans of the rubber lumberjack shoes can start ordering their pair starting March 19th, 2024.
